Capitol Broadcasting Company Loses "Uncle Paul" Montgomery

RALEIGH, NC--"Uncle Paul" Montgomery died this morning, Tuesday, December 24, 2002, after a period of declining health. He was 78 years old. Montgomery had given Capitol Broadcasting Company (CBC) 22 years of dedicated service. Most notably as the voice of WRAL-TV and host of the "Uncle Paul Show" from 1961-1981.

Montgomery was a noted jazz musician and composer in the triangle area. He played with many jazz greats from around the world, including Cathy Sloane.

Memorial service information will be announced after January 1, 2003.

Montgomery was active in his church, Holy Trinity Lutheran. He served as an organist.

Montgomery was a long-time Raleigh resident. He is survived by his wife, Camilla, and two daughters, Cathy Montgomery of Sanford and Judy Montgomery of New York.

Montgomery will be missed by the many employees of CBC.
