Warming Up
for Baseball Pelicans to Hold First Hot Stove Banquet
MYRTLE BEACH, SC - The Myrtle Beach Pelicans are having their first
Hot Stove Banquet on January 18, 2000 in the Kensington Ballroom of the
Embassy Suites at the Kingston Plantation in Myrtle Beach. The banquet
consists of a cocktail hour and sit-down prime rib dinner. Frank Wren,
Dick Balderson and Brian Snitker will represent the Atlanta Braves organization
and serve as guest speakers.
Wren is the Braves Assistant General Manager. He was the General Manager
for the Baltimore Orioles in 1998-99, the Assistant GM for the Florida
Marlins from 1991-98 and spent 15 years in the Montreal Expos organization
as a player and in management. Balderson is the Braves Director of Scouting
& Player Development. Snitker guided the Pelicans as their Manager in
the inaugural season, to the 1999 Carolina League championship. Pelicans'
players from the 1999 championship team will be on hand, too.
The banquet will cost $45/person or $450 for a table of 10. The cocktail
hour, with cash bar, will last from 6 to 7 PM. The dinner and program
will last from 7 to 9 PM. Door prizes (tickets, merchandise, etc.) will
be given away, and a sports memorabilia silent auction will take place.
Proceeds from the auction will benefit The Youth Diamond Fund, a primary
charitable focus of the Pelicans. Highlight videos recapping the 1999
season will be played on large screen televisions. Bryan Dolgin, the Pelicans
Dir. of Media & Public Relations/radio and TV broadcaster, will emcee
the event. Tickets for the event are available at the Coastal Federal
Field Box Office (1251 21st Avenue North) or by calling 843-918-6000.
Tickets go on sale Monday, December 20. Tickets will not be sold at the
door, the night of the event. Full tables can be reserved, otherwise seating
is on a first come, first serve basis. The purchase of tables is ideal
for businesses and/or large groups.
