Joe Wade Formicola becomes
Program Director at WRAL-FM in Raleigh, North Carolina
Raleigh,
NC --Ardie Gregory, Vice President and General Manager WRAL-FM and North
Carolina News Network, Capitol Broadcasting Company (CBC) has hired Joe
Wade Formicola to be the Program Director for MIX 101.5 WRAL-FM.
Formicola is no stranger to radio. His professional experiences include
on-air, as well as, programming and operations. Formicola was Operations
Manager and Program Director at WWBR/Detroit, Morning announcer at WYCD
and WWWW/Detroit, Operations Manager of WKIX/Raleigh and Program Director
of KENR/Houston and WFDF/Flint, MI. While doing mornings at WWWW in Detroit,
he won the Country Music Association’s Award for “MAJOR MARKET DJ OF THE
YEAR”. He also has won Billboard Magazine’s “DJ OF THE YEAR”, twice in
his radio career and has been honored by the Governors of North Carolina
and Michigan for outstanding work in the field of broadcasting.
Although Formicola is a native Detroiter, he is excited to get back to
Raleigh. Gregory says she feels she has found, “just the right person
to guide WRAL-FM’s programming department; someone to bring a new focus,
creativity, and excitement to the overall station sound and to the morning
show.”
