Capitol Broadcasting Company believes one of our greatest responsibilities is supporting our community. CBC’s Community Profile is a new monthly feature on the Web – a way to inform our employees and the public about the work of area non-profits, and their volunteer opportunities and needs.

For March 2006, take closer look at the YWCA of the Greater Triangle.

About the YWCA of the Greater Triangle:
Mother & ChildThe YWCA is a safe place for kids after school, a fun place for summer camp, a great place to get fit, and much, much more. The YWCA is also a supportive place for women in transition, an enriching place for seniors, a hopeful place for medically at risk women, and an open place for courageous action that confronts racism. Their programs have benefited women and their families throughout our community - in profound and life-changing ways - every day for the last 83 years.

The Mission of the YWCA:
The Young Women’s Christian Association of the United States of America is a women’s membership movement nourished by its roots in the Christian faith and sustained by the richness of many beliefs and values. Strengthened by diversity, the Association draws together members who strive to create opportunities for women’s growth, leadership and power in order to attain a common vision:

  • Peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all people.
  • The Association will thrust its collective power toward the elimination of racism wherever it exists and by any means necessary.
