About the Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention Coalition of North Carolina:
The Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention Coalition of North Carolina (APPCNC) is a public-private partnership that assists individuals, groups, and communities in organizing and implementing programs to prevent adolescent pregnancy. The Coalition provides local, regional, and statewide educational conferences, training, and resource materials for professionals and volunteers; coordinates statewide advocacy and public policy development; and conducts research and data analysis to facilitate prevention strategies.
APPCNC is a United Way Agency, supported by funds from local United Ways across the state. Financial support also comes from the North Carolina General Assembly, foundations, program fees, and contributions from supporters. A professional staff carries out the goals and objectives determined by a thirty- member board of directors that represents local councils on adolescent pregnancy prevention private agencies and volunteer organizations state departments and public agencies.
APPCNC believes a cooperative approach between public agencies, private organizations, and community volunteers can maximize existing prevention efforts.
