Third Time is a Charm for Transmit This |

Capitol Broadcasting Company’s in-house band Transmit This has been rocking the stage for three years, but now they have the proof that corporate types can get down. The band rose from the ashes to take the title at the 2008 Triangle Corporate Battle of the Bands at American Tobacco on Saturday, May 24, 2008. Transmit This: The Band From Beyond brought eight famous rockers back from the dead to battle and help event sponsors McKinney & American Tobacco raise funds for the Center for Child & Family Health in Durham.
With a medley of songs from the dead rockers greatest hit list and an original number written by the CBC reincarnation of the musicians, CBC clenched the title that many (who shall not be named) have claimed was theirs all along. “It was a great feeling to hold that trophy after two years of coming up empty,” said lead guitarist Niel “Stevie Ray Vaughn” Sollod, the unofficial leader of the band. “I think we won this year because we had the benefit of knowing the winning formula: creativity, originality and performance. “We took a team approach to creating our act and I think that came through in the end,” he continued. “Each member of the Band from Beyond had a significant role. When I spoke to the judges afterwards they said that because each member of the band had a part was what made it so fun and entertaining, they couldn’t wait to see what the next zany character was going to do.” Congratulations to Transmit This: The Band From Beyond for bringing home the musical gold! Thanks to ATC's Valerie Ward & FOX 50's Claudia Henry for these capcom photos.
