American Tobacco & FOX 50 Celebrate Opening of Diamond View I Parking Deck

Diamond View tenants are happy to see the demise of the golf cart shuttle that couriered them between the distant ATC deck and their building while the new deck was under construction.

Usually the rain depresses Diamond View I tenants in Durham because they will have a long wet walk from the American Tobacco parking deck up past the ballpark to their building.   However, on Tuesday, April 22, 2008, the rainy forecast didn’t daunt the Diamond View crowd because their brand new parking deck opened for business.

American Tobacco staffers manned a huge celebration for the Diamond View tenants, to welcome them to the Grand Opening of the Diamond View I Parking Deck.  “I Heart the East Parking Deck at AT” t-shirts were everywhere as tenants arrived and were guided in with checkered flags.

A variety of prizes were awarded via raffle drawing and all who parked in the deck received a Diamond View/American Tobacco stainless travel coffee mug.  Famous and fun car & driving songs blared as the guests arrived for their inaugural park in the new deck.

Diamond View II is currently under construction and is set to open later in the spring.  This year marks the 10th anniversary of Diamond View I and of WRAZ-TV moving into the facility and converting to a FOX affiliate.

The Durham Performing Arts Center is also currently under construction adjacent to the Diamond View and American Tobacco properties.

Thanks to ATC’s Valerie Ward for these capcom photos.
