Phillip Rivers fans in the Triangle can hear the San Diego Chargers game this weekend on 99.9 FM as the station begins airing Sunday NFL double-headers. The former NC State standout will lead the Chargers against the Chicago Bears in a 3:45 PM broadcast from the Westwood One Radio Network on September 9th. Sunday’s NFL premier begins with the Patriots @ Jets game at 12:30 PM followed by the Bears @ Chargers game. The station’s NFL play-by-play schedule is below. 99.9 FM’s pro football coverage includes two and a half hours of NHL pre-game programming every Sunday from Westwood One: NFL Insider (10 AM – 11 AM) Boomer Esiason is co-host for NFL Today and NFL Preview. Esiason quarterbacked the Cincinnati Bengals to Super Bowl XXIII, and he was named the NFL’s Most Valuable Player in 1988. Former Buffalo Bills All-Pro Steve Tasker co-hosts NFL Insider. Since 1998, Tasker has been a game analyst for THE NFL ON CBS. Capitol Broadcasting Company’s 99.9 FM will premier a sports radio format in the fall. The station currently airs the NC State Coaches’ Call-in shows at 8:00 PM on Mondays, a college football double-header every Saturday from Westwood One (including all Notre Dame games) and will carry all NHL Carolina Hurricanes games beginning with the first pre-season game against Washington on September 16th at 3:00.
