Capitol Broadcasting Company and its Charlotte television stations supported a couple of the city's events celebrating the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday for 2005.

Charlotte's WB's India Lucas and Michigan J. Frog appeared in the Martin Luther King Parade in Uptown Charlotte on Saturday, January 15th.  Nearly 2,500 people attended this family-friendly event.  The parade featured local and regional high school marching bands, steppers, social and community service organizations as well as many political, religious and community leaders.  CBC served as media sponsor.  WJZY/UPN46 Student Television (STV) Host Jeff Johnson served as Master of Ceremonies, and several WJZY staffers worked as volunteers.

Through WWWB-TV and WJZY-TV, Capitol Broadcasting served as the main sponsor of the Martin Luther King Jr. Prayer Breakfast in Charlotte on Monday, January 17th .  Over 1,200 people attended the event, with Johnson again serving as Master of Ceremonies.  Funds raised from the event will support the YMCA's community outreach campaign.  A large representation from both stations attended breakfast.
