Building Hope in Wake County
|
The Habit for Humanity home was made possible through a corporate sponsorship between Wolfpack Sports Marketing and Lowe's Home Improvement. Lowe's has been an active participant in Habitat for Humanity for many years, but decided to involve student athletes from NC State this time. Mike Wilkes, Business Development Associate with Wolfpack Sports Marketing, worked closely with Lowe's Home Improvement throughout the home building process and feels the partnership between Wolfpack Sports Marketing, Lowes, and NC State has been a unique one. According to Wilkes, Wolfpack Sports Marketing has a variety of clients who support NC State, but this one moved to a deeper level. With the building of this home, Lowes Home Improvement not only supported the NC State Athletic Department and its athletes, but also the surrounding community as well. “The end result was a benefit to many, a new home for the Farrar family of course, but also an experience for student athletes to see the effect cooperative team efforts can make not only on the court, or the playing field, but also in the local community,” said Wilkes. This project was so successful that beginning in 2005, Wolfpack Sports Marketing and Lowes Home Improvement will sponsor their second home here in Wake County .
