Other CBC Divisions Get Into Relief Effort

WRAL-TV and WRAL-FM have been collecting funds through the American Red Cross.  Now FOX 50 has joined in their mission, tripling the efforts of the CBC family through its Triangle stations.   They are encouraging viewers and listeners to give to WRAL's Tsunami Relief Fund by sending their checks or making online donations to the Red Cross, earmarking them for the WRAL fund.  As of Thursday, January 13, 2005, the three stations have raised $194,219.

The Durham Bulls are also getting into the action, in conjunction with FOX 50, MIX 101.5/WRAL-FM and The Herald-Sun.  On Wednesday, January 26th the Durham Bulls will open their box office for one day to sell individual tickets to any game for the 2005 season with all proceeds benefiting the relief effort in the tsunami-ravaged areas of Asia .

“The Bulls have always believed we should play a large role in our own community, now we need to step up to the plate for the global community,” Bulls General Manager Mike Birling said,” If you plan on coming to a Bulls game this season, this would be a great day to buy the tickets.”

The Durham Bulls Box Office will open at 9am and close at 5pm on January 26th. Tickets can be ordered at the box office or by phone at (919) 956-BULL. This is the only day all year that individual tickets can be purchased for any of the 72 Durham Bulls home games. Individual tickets will not be available again until early March and at that point will only be for April and May home games.

WILM-TV, CBC's CBS affiliate station on the North Carolina coast, are airing a series of PSA's on Tsunami Relief.  The station's web site, www.wilm-tv.com , includes a list of organizations to which viewers can direct their donations.
