Widow of Former CBC President Dies at 94

Sadly, Capitol Broadcasting Company has lost a member of the extended CBC family. Margaret Fletcher, widow of CBC founder and president, A.J. Fletcher, passed away on Tuesday, November 10, 2004, at the age of 94.

Mrs. Fletcher worked tirelessly in the community. She was most noted for her service as a member of the AJ. Fletcher Foundation Board of Directors. Mrs. Fletcher was an active member of the Hayes Barton Baptist Church and of Raleigh's St. Luke's Circle, which provides affordable housing for elderly women.

Born December 26, 1909, Margaret Harrington, was a lifelong resident of Raleigh. She graduated from St. Mary's College and for many years worked for the US Geological Survey Office. Mr. A.J. Fletcher and Margaret were married from 1968 until his death in 1979.

At the time of her death she lived at the Stewart Health Center at Springmoor in north Raleigh.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 13, 2004 at 2:00pm at Hayes Barton Baptist Church in Raleigh. The family will receive friends at the church at 1:00pm. Mrs. Fletcher will have a private burial.
