CBC Gives Record-Breaking Grant to Durham Arts Council
"We are enthusiastic about our commitment to Durham Arts Council," said CBC President & CEO Jim Goodmon. "I'm impressed with the organization's vision and its leadership in the cultural community. It's our hope that the challenge grant will encourage other companies and individuals to support the Durham Arts Council. We are proud of our baseball club and hard at work on the American Tobacco project, but the arts are equally important to the quality of life in our community." Durham Arts Council supports the arts community in many ways, including running artist residency programs in local schools, awarding artists grants, and sponsoring the state's longest running street arts festival, Centerfest. "With the very generous support from Capitol Broadcasting Company and the additional support that the challenge grant will encourage from other community donors, Durham Arts Council will grow in service to an even brighter future, as it honors the wonderful success of its first 50 years," said DAC Executive Director Sherry DeVries. |
