Grenny, former president of the California Computer Corporation and an executive for the Covey Leadership Center, repeatedly challenged the audience to interact with one another and respond to theoretical situations presented via videotape that could occur in a corporate setting. He shared the book's message of what to do when you're facing a conversation where stakes are high, opinions vary, and you and others are starting to become emotional. As stated on the Crucial Conversations Web site, "if you learn how to hold crucial conversations you can enhance productivity, hold people accountable, strengthen teams, ensure quality, and do everything else necessary to improve both individual and organizational performance".
