Nominations Sought for Martin Luther King Youth Concert Narrator
The Triangle Youth Philharmonic and Raleigh's Martin Luther King All-Children's Choir have joined hands with Capitol Broadcasting Company, Inc. and the A.J. Fletcher Foundation to present the full-length concert. A centerpiece of the program will be William Henry Curry's Eulogy For A Dream, a work based on selected speeches and writings of Dr. King. Eulogy for a Dream features a Narrator, a role usually assigned to an adult professional. However, for this special concert, the Narrator will be performed by a Triangle-area youth to be selected by last year's student narrators and the Artistic Directors of both the Triangle Youth Philharmonic and the MLK All Children's Choir. Music and Drama teachers in Durham, Orange and Wake Counties are being asked to nominate up to two students to represent their school in the competition. Final auditions to select the Narrator will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday morning, November 22, 2003 in Studio A at WRAL-TV on Western Boulevard in Raleigh. Teachers at any school, public or private, may obtain an audition script by visiting www.king-raleigh.org/events/body.cfm or calling 834-6264 or 673-7681. |
