Charlotte's WB Goes Digital |
Another one of Capitol Broadcasting's Charlotte television stations has joined the digital revolution. WWWB-TV (WB55) began providing the Charlotte market with five hours per week of original high definition programming beginning Thursday, September 12, 2002. The programming will be available on digital channel 39.1, but standard definition can still be received via analog channel 55.

WWWB-TV Premiere's Harry Potter Trailer During the first high definition broadcast of "Family Affair" on Thursday, September 12, 2002, Charlotte's WB station exclusively premiered the trailer of the next Harry Potter movie. This marks the second time the WB has given its viewers an exclusive first look at a new Harry Potter movie. "We are very excited to be presenting the first look at our trailer for Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets on The WB," said Dawn Taubin, President of Domestic Theatrical Marketing, Warner Bros. Pictures. "The WB brand is synonymous with young adult and family audiences, making the Network the perfect outlet to share this exhilarating footage with Harry Potter fans throughout North America." Last year, The WB presented an exclusive look at a scene from "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" and achieved its best Friday night ratings of the season. The film has grossed nearly $1 Billion worldwide to date. |

The WB network has begun providing some of its primetime and weekend line-up in high definition. The following shows are slated for digital broadcasts:
- Premiering Thursday, September 12 - "Family Affair" starring Tim Curry
- Premiering Monday, September 16 - "Everwood" starring Treat Williams
- Premiering Friday, September 20 -"Reba" starring Reba McEntire
- Premiering Tuesday, September 24 - "Smallville" starring Tom Welling
