Women's Soccer Comes To North Carolina
CBC Supports The Carolina Courage |
The
Carolina Courage, a new
professional women's soccer team, is kicking up its heels in the Triangle
thanks in part to Capitol Broadcasting Company. The Carolina Courage,
a member of the Women's United Soccer Association (WUSA), selected CBC's
Capitol Sports Management to provide sponsorship and corporate ticket
sales support.
The team will play its
inaugural game this Saturday, April 21st, at Fetzer Field on the campus
of UNC. The Courage's challenge of Kristine Lilly and the Boston Breakers
will be a history-making, one time event in North Carolina, the first league
game for the Courage and the beginning of the WUSA's first season. Game
time is 7:30pm.

Originally tapped
for Orlando, the Carolina Courage relocated to Raleigh-Durham at
the end of last year. Their home field for the 2001 season will
be Fetzer Field, but the team will later move to the brand new State
Capital Soccer Park in Cary due to be completed next year.

sports franchise. We feel that, as the only professional team in the area
focused on women's
|
sports, the
Carolina Courage will gain a strong foothold in the Triangle. We
are delighted to have been chosen to join the Courage team."
The Carolina
Courage will visit CBC entity the Durham
Bulls tonight, Friday, April 20th, as Courage head coach Marcia
McDermott will throw out the first pitch and the entire team will
