MIX
101.5 Succeeds With 2001 Radiothon |
MIX 101.5 has topped
itself again. This year the station raised a whopping $891,555,
through its annual Radiothon for Duke Children's Hospital. A group of
roughly 450 volunteers invaded the 711 Building, the headquarters WRAL-FM
and parent company CBC, for five days to answer phones and take pledges
during the event.

on Sunday, June 3. at the conclusion of the radiothon. |
Early Morning Show
Co-Host Bill Jordan has helped with the event all of its eight years of
existence. He said, "Without a doubt, this is the most important thing
I've been involved with. I look forward to the radiothon. It's exhausting,
but all you have to do is take a look around the hospital and you'll see
just how important those dollars are."

Costco in Raleigh had an entire wall of Radiothon icons purchased
by customers. |
Jordan joined
fellow Early Morning Show co-hosts Angela Flynn and Schatzie in
working around the clock to raise funds for the hospital. They,
along with other MIX personalities, producers, and children, parents
and staff from the hospital told stories, read poems, played montages,
and made appearances around the Triangle to encourage listeners
to pledge. The group logged in 101 hours on the air for the radiothon
from May 30 to June 6.
Last year's
Radiothon brought in $889,460.

All together,
the three stations raised $55,000 to give to the kids at Duke.
These pledges are in addition to the total MIX 101.5 raised,
so the two CBC entities together helped boost Duke Children's
Hospital with close to $1 million.
