FOX
50 Recognized At Hurricanes Game |

One For the Community recognized FOX 50. |
FOX50
received the One for the Community Award for serving as media partner
with One for the Community. The award was presented at a recent Carolina
Hurricanes game; FOX50 General Sales Manager Evelyn Booker accepted
the gift and plaque on behalf of FOX50. Booker said, "This was an
excellent opportunity for FOX50, their only media partner, to make
a meaningful contribution to the future of the local community." |
| Children
of area county schools sold Entertainment 2001 coupon books at $25
each. Out of the $25, half the money went to the schools and the other
half went to One for the Community. At the Carolina Hurricanes hockey
game on Sunday, January 14, FOX 50, the NC State Hurricanes, and Building
Youth Assets (BYA), along with One For The Community, presented a
check to the school systems for $800,000. Those school systems included
those of Wake, Durham, Orange and Cumberland Counties. |

Entertainment 2001 books contain coupons for area restaurants, events,
etc. |

FOX50 General Sales Manager |
Booker
explained the effort: "This campaign has three phases. FOX50, as their
media partner, worked in conjunction with One For The Community to
get their message out to the masses. The "awareness" campaign, Phase
1, aired late summer (July and August). Our viewers were familiarized
with the needs of the community, and told that One for the Community
is coming soon. "Fund-raising", Phase 2, was in the fall, (August
and September). Viewers were familiarized with the Entertainment Book
and |
| encouraged
to buy them from local schools and community groups. The final phase
was "Proof of Performance", which aired in the winter, October - January.
We thanked viewers and sponsors for their participation in helping
to raise the $800,000 + for local schools and charities. That number
will exceed 1 million, but at the time of the presentation, it was
$800,000." |
