North Carolina Chapter of the American Red Cross recently stopped
by Capitol Broadcasting to thank the company for its active participation
in the fundraising to help the victims of the terrorist attacks
on New York and Washington, DC. CBC and its media divisions, FOX50,
WRAL-TV, WRAL-FM, coordinated Relief for America after the September
along with the Durham Bulls, raised money at three Triangle locations
on September 13. The money from the Blackwell Street location in
front of the ballpark went to the Durham branch of the Red Cross,
the Central North Carolina Chapter, for processing to the national
organization. They also processed the funds received at the Vigil
of Hope held at the Bulls on September 14.

The Central NC Chapter
of the American Red Cross received $67,000, raised at the Durham Bulls
location. The two Raleigh locations of CBC's Relief for America fundraiser
pulled in $430,000, together, and $47,000 was raised online via WRAL.com.
This current total is $544,000, not including the checks citizens mailed
directly to the local Red Cross for the WRAL fund which have not been
tallied yet. The funds raised in Wake County will be processed through
the Triangle American Red Cross, Raleigh's chapter.
So far, $543 billion
has been raised nationwide for the American Red Cross for disaster relief
