CBC Staff and Volunteers
Distribute Azaleas
Non-profit
groups selected from across the state converged on the WRAL Transmitter
site on Saturday, October 6th, to pick up azaleas from the 16th Annual
Azalea Celebration sponsored by WRAL-TV, MIX 101.5, and Keep North Carolina
Clean & Beautiful (KNCCB) with funding from the A.J. Fletcher Foundation.
These groups applied and were chosen based on their planned uses of the
plants to beautify their properties.

Over 10,500 azaleas were given away to 127 non-profit groups. |

Crews came to the WRAL Transmitter site to collect the plants. |
Members of Capitol
Broadcasting's Property Management crew and volunteers and board members
from KNCCB helped distribute the plants. Over 10,500 were given away to
127 non-profit groups spanning from Murphy to Manteo.
Despite the rain during
most of the day, groups arrived to meet cheerful volunteers. Property
Manager Gil Decker commented, "Considering the rain, it was fun."

CBC property management staff members helped hand out the azaleas. |

Volunteers from KNCCB also showed up in force to help. |

The rainy weather did not deter the celebration. |

The plants were grown by CBC's property management. |
