Wins Three State Associated Press Awards |
The North Carolina
News Network (NCNN) won three awards from the North Carolina Associated
Press Broadcasters (NCAPB) this past weekend. The awards were presented
during a luncheon at the NCAPB convention in Durham on Saturday, April
21.

NCNN
won Best Health Report for stories on health problems faced by victims
of Hurricane Floyd. NCNN Anchors/Reporters Bruce Ferrell and Kara
Lusk reported for the pieces. NCNN also won Best Sportscast coverage
for NCNN Sports Director Rick Dayton's coverage of ACC basketball
and the NBA. Dayton and NCNN also received an honorable mention for
Best Sports Programming for his "We're Talkin' Sports" show which
featured Olympic gold medallist Marian Jones, North Carolina Coach
Matt Doherty and Duke basketball player Shane Battier.

Ellen Reinhardt commented on the awards, "I'm proud the Network
has been recognized by our peers for the quality of our work."
During the same
convention attendees voted Reinhardt as Vice President of the NCAPB.
WRAL-TV Executive Producer Scott Pickey was elected President of
the organization as well. Each will serve a one-year term.

The NCAPB is the state
chapter of the Associated Press Broadcasters, a group of news organizations
from across the country.The
NCAPB is the Radio & TV arm of Associated Press. The AP provides a news
service and organizations pay to become members and then share news stories.
The AP also has its own reporters and editors that provide news.

and to Pickey & Reinhardt for their election as NCAPB officers!
