FOX 50's Promotion Producer Lec Coble and Commercial Producer Scott Reid won the Best of the Best Award from the North Carolina Association of Broadcasters (NCAB). FOX 50 General Manager accepted the award on their behalf at the NCAB convention in Wrightsville Beach in July. They won in the Television Commercial Category for Market 1.

The pair won the award for a spot they produced for the News & Observer. Coble said, "They [N&O] were trying to capitalize on the idea of the new century and that they would be there for their readers in the next century."

Coble and Reid used newspaper photos and clips from the past 100 years and placed them over a sunrise background. He continued explaining, "The key was to create some movement for the newspaper pictures and clips and try to blend them nicely with the music. We created the movement using both camera shots and editing."

FOX 50 won the "Best of the Best Award" from the NCAB last year as well. Randy Mews took home the trophy for a News & Observer ad that he produced.
