Sharp Wins Human
Resources Award The
McLain Award was established to honor Robert F. McLain, who died approximately
two months into his term as President of what was then the Raleigh-Wake
Personnel Association. Nominees for the award must have exhibited service
to the association; dedication to the human resources profession exemplified
through experience, certification, and development of other human resource
professionals; and contributions to the community. One award can be presented
annually, but the award is only given in a year when a professional is found
who exemplifies these characteristics.
Sharp's community involvement is also considerable. She was instrumental in starting the Triangle Chapter of American Women in Radio and Television (AWRT). She served as Secretary in the 1999 inaugural year of the group, as Vice President in 2000, and will serve as President in 2001. Sharp worked extensively with the Special Olympics World Summer Games when they came to the Triangle in 1999, where she served as Sponsor Relations Manager of the Dean E. Smith Center venue. |
