Goodmons Appear
On UNC-TV
Jim Goodmon and his wife Barbara
both taped programs for UNC-TV that are airing this summer. Jim appeared
this past Sunday on “Carolina Business Review,” and Bill Friday interviewed
Barbara for the “NC People” installment that aired Friday, June 30.

Jim Goodmon’s
appearance on “Carolina Business Review” was his second in the last
several years. He was once again the featured guest. The public
affairs show features host Chris William moderating discussion by
two panelists about the week’s business highlights. The second portion
of the program centers around a special guest of whom the panelists
ask questions. Jim was questioned by this week’s panelists, Dr.
Ben H. Nunnally, a professor at UNC-Charlotte, and Phil Kirk, President
of NC Citizens for Business & Industries. The topics of discussion
for Jim’s part of the program included the burgeoning field of digital
television, his

vision for more regional cooperation
in the Triangle, and his placing the focus on downtown Raleigh and downtown
Durham as business centers.
Broadcast
on UNC-TV on Sundays at 12:30pm, “Carolina Business Review” has a net
weekly circulation of 2.5 million. The program also airs on WTVI in Charlotte
and SC ETV (South Carolina Educational Television) with viewing audience
North Carolina, South Carolina, and portions of North Georgia.

Goodmon made her first program-long television interview appearance
in Bill Friday’s “NC People” on Friday, June 30th. The program re-aired
on Sunday, July 2nd. Friday interviewed her in the Goodmon home and
the main point of discussion was “The Healing Place,” the homeless
center for which Barbara is one of the principal supporters. Friday
led Barbara through a discussion of how she decided to work with the
homeless and for other social causes. Barbara told Friday about her
earlier career as a head |

nurse in Memphis, her work with children
in a burn unit, her dedication to and admiration for the Salvation Army
Board, and how she found out about the concept for the Healing Place and
decided to bring it to the Triangle. Friday later stated that he got overwhelming
response to Barbara Goodmon’s appearance on his show.

For “NC People,”
now in its 29th season, William Friday interviews North Carolinians
about the positive contributions they’ve made to the state. Friday’s
illustrious career in the state was concentrated in the University
System where he served as President for a record 30-year term. |
