CBC
Kicks off Volunteer Registration in WRAL Gardens
CBC has committed
to provide employee volunteers to help with our venue at the 1999 Special
Olympics World Games: Basketball at the Dean E. Smith Center at UNC, Chapel
Hill. As a volunteer, CBCers will get the chance to welcome and get to
know athletes from around the world, learn about their culture first hand
and experience their joy as they cross the finish line.
Darryl Jordan, Herb Sendek and Jim Payne
To help volunteers get more information, CBC held a Volunteer Kick-off
Event in the WRAL Gardens. Employees were treated to ice cream and popcorn,
and got inspirational messages of support from our very own Jim Goodmon
and Jim Payne; Herb Sendek, Cornelius Williams, and Tim Wells from NC
State; and Mary Steele-Nicholson, Special Olympics Committee, and Darryl
Jordan, a Special Olympics athlete. CBC employees were given the opportunity
to get into the spirit of basketball competition by participating in a
Three-Point Shot and Free Throw Competition.
Herb
Sendek, Cornelius Williams, and Tim Wells from NC State University Basketball
Team stopped by to lend their support and encouragement as well.
