Ho to San Francisco! |
Capitol Networks has formed a partnership with San Francisco's leading
radio station, KGO AM/810, to produce and market San Francisco 49er's
football broadcasts for the 1998, 1999 and 2000 seasons. KGO, a Disney/ABC
station that has held the rights for over a decade, is designated as the
"managing partner," but Capitol will manage the sales effort and regional
radio network.
"49er's President Carmen Policy wants to expand their network and ramp
up marketing efforts as the team plans for a new stadium," said Network
Group Vice President George Habel. "It's very gratifying that the team
and KGO turned to us for assistance. This is an exciting opportunity to
extend the Capitol Sports brand to the west coast and to be associated
with a team that has won five Super Bowls."
CN's Director of NFL Marketing, Scott Crites, will supervise a soon-to-be-recruited
Sales Manager and staff. Crites will now oversee sales offices for three
NFL teams, the Panthers in Charlotte, the Oilers in Nashville and the
new San Francisco office. Special Projects VP, Al Mangum, will consult
with the new business structure and broadcast operations. He put together
Capitol's Oilers partnership in Tennessee two years ago.
