Pops
in the Park 1997
Pops in
the Park is a Labor Day weekend tradition in Raleigh featuring the North
Carolina Symphony Orchestra.
This
year's concert brought thousands of area music lovers to Meredith College
to watch Raleigh's own Lauren Kennedy, and Tony-nominee Alan Campbell
perform selections from Phantom of the Opera, Damn Yankees and Evita
with the Symphony Orchestra leading up to the grand finale of the 1812
Overture and a fireworks display.
WRAL-TV and WRAL-FM were among the sponsors of this year's concert in
the park. This was the 17th year that WRAL-TV televised the concert.
